Ski mountaineering at Atomfjella: the journey to discover the Arctic!

A unique journey through the mountains of Atomfjella, in Svalbard – Spitzbergen, islands 640 km north of the North Cape, considered in the past the obligatory passage for Dutch explorers in search of the Indies: extreme polar nature for exploratory ski mountaineering in the lands of the Polar Bear , characterized by endless days with the midnight sun, immense spaces and high-level itineraries.

Travel program

Day 1-9: Travel program

A ski mountaineering program in one of the wildest and most fascinating regions on the planet. We are at extreme latitudes, just 700 km from the North Pole: here the polar ice pack encompasses the northern part of the island of Spitzbergen for almost the whole year, while the stupendous mountains of Atomfjella emerge from the Vesteralen glacier like mirages.
At the end of April the sun is high all day, which allows you to ski at any time, suspended in an unreal atmosphere. The program involves collaboration with a local operator for snowmobile transport to the base camp in the Atomfjella area.  On the first day we will spend the night in Longyearbyen, the next morning this incredible 180 km journey will begin from Longiearbyen through fjords and arctic tundras populated by seals and polar bears. The Atomfjella Group is a mountain massif characterized by hundreds of steep slopes and fantastic peaks, the area is famous both for its location but also for the deep skiable channels as well as for the presence of many still unclimbed peaks.
The base camp consists of a heated communal tent that is used for social activities and eating while the smaller, heated tents, decorated with reindeer skins and mattresses, will be used for sleeping. Every night there will be the need to guard the polar bear: a unique and singular experience in the company of the midnight sun.  On the last day we will return to Longiearbyen where we will spend the night and we will organize the material for the return to Italy.

Ski mountaineering in the Maritime Alps: Valle Stura

  •   26 - 30 March 2025
The Stura Valley: one of the most enchanting corners of the Maritime and Cottian Alps, an ideal environment for those who love ski mountaineering! In winter, the valley transforms into a true paradise for ski mountaineering!!! Thanks to its territorial conformation, this valley offers opportunities for everyone, beginners and experts, to ski on winter and spring snows with trips of varying difficulty. The ideal destination for those looking for an adventure far from mass tourism to discover still wild corners!!! The “ski de randonnée” also goes beyond the Colle della Maddalena, which remains a good alternative when the snow conditions are not optimal on the Italian side. Our choice is to base ourselves in Sambuco, at the Osteria della Pace, where, in addition to the delicious cuisine and a very varied wine list, you can relax in the hotel SPA after long ski mountaineering trips.

Monte Rosa Freeride

  •   04 - 06 January 2025
Monte Rosa is the temple of Freeride: wide lands, an infinite variety of slopes of different technical levels suitable for all, from the beginner to the steep skiing lover; modern ski lifts that allow the skier to fully enjoy the ski day. If it is true that the well-known “Monte Rosa Tour” is today partly affected by ski lifts, the modern Punta Indren lift station leads you in a short time up to an altitude of 3200 m and lets you reach the wide slopes to Gressoney (such as to Lys Valley) or to Alagna, throughout couloirs, glaciers, isolated valleys surrounded by steep sides.
